			During winter the historic AlexanderPlatz club and the “Casa del Jazz”, together with many others, enrich the diverse musical night-life of Rome. Hotel Locarno adds to the musical panorama of Rome with its summer jazz evenings. Once a week a jazz duo comes to play in the Hotel garden or on the terrace. We have chosen this musical genre because it belongs to everyone. Jazz is not just a type of music, it’s a language with black origins which has evolved to become neither distinctly black nor white. Some of the most famous of jazz musicians have defined jazz in this way: Charlie Parker. Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art. Coleman Hawkins. Rhythm, feeling, inspiration. It can be taught. But only its mechanics. Dave Brubeck. Jazz is the only form of modern art where you’re respected for your individualism even when you’re still playing with the group. Duke Ellington. It’s part of us. It’s the music of our people. As is the blues. Jazz is my love. Eric Dolphy. It’s something that makes you feel alive when you play it and when you listen to it. It isn’t restating what someone else has written. It’s looking for a music that is yours, expressing your feelings, offering yourself to others and to yourself. Jimmy Rushing. It’s music of African origin and of European reminiscence. It has adopted the ‘principle’ of absolute but controlled freedom. As real freedom should be. Jo Jones. In my opinion it’s playing how you feel. Every musician expresses himself and reveals himself through his instrument. 			To see: TREVI'S FOUNTAIN - The most famous fountain in Rome, made by architect Salvi in 1735 under Pope Clement XII, it is considered one of the most beautiful fountains in the world.
